Now I can take total credit for this one, because it's mine. After we ebony stained our existing kitchen cabinets, I needed a way to add some "brightness" to my kitchen.

Don't let my DIY fool you, the mirror backing was inexpensive. Each piece from a glass shop was under $40. The glass shelves averaged $30 each.
And it worked, the sunlight bounces around this room now!

If you're thinking the basket weave one would be hard to do, than you're wrong. That one makes me wonder what other types of "strips" I could use to copycat it!

Now I admit it, I have been pondering this idea for WEEKS, for one area of my kitchen.
See a shot of my kitchen below, all the uppers in this photo are what I am thinking of replacing with open shelving. But two things will need to happen first.
1. I am going to need a backsplash.
2. I am going to need to either build a unit to "house" my vent hood or buy a more modern free standing one.
So that's why the hesitation for now...
