Top Perennials of 2020 Achillea 'Firefly Peach Sky' This time of year a Gardener is just starting to feel like they caught up on their sleep and the ol' back ache has eased up a lot after last years season. Now we get to plan because the seed and plant catalogs start showing up. It's the perfect time for me to show you the list of new perennials that are coming our way for the year. I feel like comparing the new plants for the year is similar to Fashion Week. The new colors and textures to fall in love with and get inspired by. Plus, the way I garden; the tried and true method of "I have to have that, now where am I going to put it" technique. Walking the lots filled with new flowers and the smell of fresh potting soil. Don't get me started! But let's get started on the new arrivals for 2020. I wanted this post to be about flowers and color, so for more details and zone info, please click on the pictures to go directly to Proven Winners site for t......
Potting Bench Decorating my potting bench is totally new to me this year. In 2019 this potting bench was getting used so much I literally never wiped the dirt off because it would be back the following day! So to spruce it up just to be pretty was kinda fun. Especially since all the greenery here is living and It only cost about 6 bucks for all of it. That's right folks, I found another score at the big box store this Fall and pounced so many times, the back of my SUV smelled like evergreens for weeks afterwards. That's not a complaint, it actually was kind of nice. The dirt not so much. Funny story. I knew we would be doing a lot of holiday lights this year outside so I had the ultimate elf light hanger extraordinaire take a week of vacation to get it done at a nice leisurely pace. Ready to seriously get back to work and stop being my muscle for an entire week Greg holds the last light strand in his hand and asks Is that it? No more lights you want up? Nope, no more lights. ......
Moving the Shed I admit, moving the shed was a touchy subject around my house. When we first bought and put it together, we did not have a fence. So Greg was worried about someone getting into it and he wanted the door visible from the house but he didn't want it in the back portion of the yard. It was a lengthy discussion, which I finally had to walk away because I was at the fork in the road. You know the fork. Get into a fight, or let it go. Within a month or two of installing the fence, I wanted it moved. Worried that it was going to be a "hire a crane operator" kind of project, didn't think my wish would stick to the wall. But it did and we finally gave up a weekend to get it done before our first major snowfall. We bought 4 x 4 fence posts that were square and also bought the cheap round ones that around here are usually used for cattle fencing. Above is a view of where it used to be. Below is what I see now and I am already making garden plans. I pulled everyt......
The Fall color that northwest Indiana has been getting this year has been just incredible. I have been snapping some photos with my new Canon camera. Yes I bought a new one to accompany my cell phone to just compare and see how good a videographer or photographer I can be. When I feel like it that is. I am still watching every video and reading manual after manual of my new Canon Rebel T6i. I bought a kit that came with several lenses and filters plus a two tripods and other various gadgets I don't think I'll use, but you never know. I am the girl several years ago who said right here on this blog I'll never spend that much time taking pictures or editing my photos. And look how that has turned out. I am still a beginner with figuring out how and when to use what lenses. It is going to take my blonde brain years to figure this out but if I can get 4 good shots every time I shoot, then I will be satisfied. Not happy, but satisfied. I have a few new plants but don't real......
