Lake County Indiana Master Garden walk - House 5 Hi garden friends! Well this is it, the last house on the Lake County Garden Tour. If you are a fan of the color red, you are going to love this home.  By this time it was around 12:30 and I was definitely feeling the heat. The backyard did look inviting with the impressive pool. In the gazebo was a pizza oven and sitting area. Which was being heavily occupied by people trying to escape the hot weather. I was debating on jumping into the pool and trying to make it look like an accident.  Logic won out and I didn't think anyone would buy that excuse. Across from the patio on the opposite side of the pool was a large fireplace that would be stunning to look at when eating dinner on cooler nights. The use of evergreens was wonderful. Even though the heat index was close to 100, I could imagine how pretty everything would look in December. The triple tier fountain was a crowd pleaser all planted up with annuals.  It's......
Lake County Indiana Master Garden Walk - House 4 Hi Garden friends! Welcome to part four of the Lake County Master Garden Walk in Northwest Indiana. This beautiful garden I am about to show you was tucked into a serene and thought out neighborhood, and the homeowner was as sweet as could be! The stately and colorful evergreens just drew you right into the backyard. As soon as I saw them mixed with white hydrangeas I knew I was home. I also knew thought was put into this yard as well as a personal touch. The back of the house had quite a few shady spots to tuck in and just enjoy the view. I loved it from every angle. I loved talking to the homeowner, she is such a bright and positive soul. A cancer survivor whose husband built her this house and gave her a view out of every room. I loved all the winter interest this yard had. I could imagine tons of christmas lights and a home filled with grand kids waiting for Santa. I know, I'm corny. It's a gift. The porch extended......
Lake County Indiana Master Garden Walk - House 3 Welcome friends! I hope you're ready for the third house on my Lake County Master Garden Tour. Just to do a quick recap, there were approximately 8 houses on the tour and I made it to 5, so 3 were skipped by me due to parking issues, heat and a hungry tummy. Upon parking at this one you could clearly see that this property was large. I am bad at guessing lot sizes but think at least 4 acres. We were told to avoid the garden around the home as it was private but we could stroll over to the lake and the property owners business to see the gardens there. I freely admit to being perturbed by that. It hit me right then after going on two of these "County" master garden walks, that there are two types of tours by "gardeners". One was a open arms welcome to my yard, you and I are now friends, and the other was a more reserved, protected type of garden tour. It made me wonder if anything bad had happened to make them ......
Lake County Master Garden Walk - House 2 This is the second home on the Lake County Indiana Master Garden Walk that I got to tour and it was the one that stands out the most to me. Take a tour with me and hopefully the attention to color, detail and texture will come across the camera lens as it did in person. The entrance into the backyard gave you such a greeting with the use of this arbor or trellis. As soon as I saw it, I could not wait to see what was on the other side. It might have also been the gorgeous purple trailer growing along it. I was so anxious to get farther into the yard I didn't get a closeup of it. It looks like Clematis, but I might be wrong. Below is definitely what I call a must "have in" any yard. I have no idea where I'd put it but who cares. You know me I buy plants then create space for them afterwards. I should have called my blog the backwards gardener. I forgot the name of this tree but the peeling bark makes it easy to Google for a na......
