Hi friends, setting a gorgeous black and white table today using things from around the house and some gorgeous boxwood wreaths I've had. It demonstrates how you can use the same dishes over and over on a table and get a completely different look with little fuss! I had a small intimate birthday party for Greg with just family and decided to see if the same dishes I had in last weeks table, could be used for a different table this week. He stressed he wanted it to be no fuss and easy and everything I suggested cooking was too much work, so we agreed on just picking up two large pizzas from our favorite bar and grill and calling it a day. The large black and gold candle holder used to be in the living room. I was surprised to find I don't own a lot of black accessories for this color scheme of table unless you count the rug on my front porch. Which I almost grabbed, I will be honest! Hubby's party went off without a hitch and he got some loot he loves. Our oldest daughte......
Setting a quick and easy summer tablescape when you have no time or money. I found two purple bottles at JoAnne's that could not be passed up. One of the reasons I love when Fall gets close. Stores carry purple decor unlike any other time of the year. I clipped a couple of hydrangea branches and dropped them in. It's like they were made for each other. Part of me wants to go back and buy another 2 but I am trying to not go overboard. I'm going to have to store them when they aren't being used and 2018 was the year of the big purge. I still have not put the final touches on my dish room. Garden season takes precedence. I can finish that room in winter time when we are trapped inside . The napkins I found on clearance at Pier 1 about 5 years ago. The napkin rings are from Bed Bath & Beyond. The purple stemware I got at Menards about 4 years ago. If the rain quits, maybe I will get to do a nice outdoor table. I am anxious to do one. I've waited a long......
There is nothing like using my favorite color to set a nice mood. It seems like forever since I played with some dishes and did a nice tablescape to look at. I found one glass apothecary jar on clearance, so that spawned a table runner filled with a couple I have had for a few years. I filled each one with a variety. Moss rocks, potpourri or cotton heads.  This certainly has been a season of changes, but not so much inside. My family has been busy with new babies, new homes and us in particular with the backyard that we have just been living in the house. Not renovating it or even painting any walls. That has to be a first for me. ___________________________________ _________________________________  I'm hoping to be able to buy a couple of tree's and larger evergreens before the end of September. So I am trying to get projects done so those types of plantings can finish off my garden work and maybe we can throw a party to the end of summer. I am anxious to be able to start se......
Hi Friends! I thought it was time to take a 20 minute break from outside and set a table.  I was getting tablescape cravings, how weird is that! I found this awesome metal centerpiece at HomeGoods. I knew it would look good on my coffee table but I let it take a brief detour first. I almost bought two, one for inside and one for outside, but thought I may be going a bit overboard on how much I liked it.  Greg and I have been doing outside work every chance we get. Last year we took down a Mulberry Tree. Well we have been burning the branches to get rid of the huge pile in the back portion of our property, so the fence installation goes smoothly. Hopefully I will hear something this week about an exact install date.  I have also been moving any plants that are going to be in the way near the garage. Couple years back I planted large perennials to cover the garbage cans, because I couldn't take looking at them any longer when I pulled into the driveway. Those are getti......
Table Setting Ideas for a Dinner Party |  Hi Guys, well as promised here are the dishes I found when we went to IKEA. I felt inspired to set a casual table setting for dinner. Even though most nights it's just the two of us, I wanted to set the table for 6 just to get the full effect of the pretty dishes I bought. It has been quite a while since I bought some dishes I almost don't know what to do with myself. I have spent money all summer but it has been on the backyard, the flower beds.  Lavender, hydrangeas, old galvanized tubs for containers. You name it!  So it was definitely kinda strange walking inside an air conditioned store for over an hour, unlike outdoor garden centers, and just meandering. The black napkins were a HomeGoods purchase two years ago. The candles, ferns and votives are all discount stores and thrift store purchases. The flowers I picked from the front yard. After digging in the dirt most of the afternoon, it occurred to me I hadn't been doing a lo......
