Touring a Garden to showcase the colors of hydrangeas, sedum, bluebeard and a Japanese Maple Tree in Autumn.
(This post contains a lot of pictures!) It also contains a surprise. So take a good look and see if you can tell what has been removed. I’ll give you a hint. It is not a plant, tree or flower.
The sunflowers were a gift from the birds and the seed from the bird feeder. I love garden surprises. This pic is actually from 2 weeks ago, I am glad I snapped it, because the sunflowers drooped and faded fast.
A new addition above is some red coneflowers. I usually try to add a new color element every year and I found red.
Game On!
Below is a plant stand, so instead of just doing the standard hanging fern or flowers I am going to add a mum for Fall. Or maybe pumpkins.
Grrr, sun spots on my picture….sorry!
This bed is going to get totally redone. I have been adding hydrangeas and taking out the Hosta’s. The plants are also doing so good that the boulders will need to come out as well.
A lot of them are hidden.
I added a smaller lantern for more interest and popped in some dollar store pumpkins. The larger one got my old dryer vent pumpkins that I made 3 years ago, maybe 4?
I also ripped up some burlap, yellow and purple fabric tied the strips onto shower curtain rings and hung them on the lanterns…
I was feeling a little bohemian that day. I think it works.
If you’d like to see how we upcycled a broken lantern into Yard Art, you can hop over and see it How to turn Trash to Treasure.
See what has been taken out? (below)
If you said the front railing and two handrails?
You were right!
Its dating the house. So this week if the weather cooperates, “G” and I will be doing a whole new wood stair that almost runs the entire length of the porch. and new handrails.
Then next year we will add new porch columns that are more inline with a brick ranch home. Can you see beefy cedar columns?
I can!
Hope you enjoyed a stroll through my front yard and come back soon!
XO,
Christine
