Christmas Decorations Decorating my front porch doesn't get any better during the holidays for me. It's one of my favorite tasks that I look forward too. It's also one that I used to stress about, because as the first impression you get when you drive up, it has to wow people. As each year goes by I collect my holiday permanent pieces and use them over and over until I wear them out. The large 5 foot tall wreath is the first thing we hang and this year was a task! The Santa that's inside had to be hung separately due to the weight of it. I also feel a little bit more at ease, if the wreath should fall for whatever reason. I feel like I need to be prepared for the worst and hope for the best, and so far this strategy has not failed me. Especially since if I had to replace it, it would cost hundreds for the wreath alone and I only paid 5 garage sale bucks for this baby about 9 years ago. I got a lot of crazy looks hauling this sucker down the street in July, but I bet th......
Fall Decor 2019 It's Fall tour time! A classic black and white color scheme and mixing in my signature favorite color of purple is truly relaxing this time of year. It signifies that a hot season filled with weeds, sweating and having to shave my legs is coming to a close. I'm kidding about the shaving part of course but truthfully I will slow down on the razor police. Our nights here are at a cool mid sixties and I'm loving it! I went less is more for the porch. Mainly because I included a video for you as well and it gives a garden tour. I did manage a small Fall vignette out near a new Birch Tree as well for a pop of interest. I have two fiddle leaf figs that are doing very well. I hear so many people's frustration about growing these things. So far I think I am mastering it. I spotted some new growth on both of them so they love a North facing spot with only a couple hours of Sun and terracotta pots. If I were to name this scheme I would have named it the year of t......
Backyard Patio and Garden Tour Hi Garden friends! Where oh where do I start? I have been wanting to show you all the updates around the yard, but trying to keep it pristine, weed free and free of dog poo is a full time job. Apparently so is pooping, going by the amount I am cleaning up from Blitz. I think flies are literally coming in from England for this damn dog. Also, I have a Weirdo Magnet Episode for ya. I know it's been awhile, I was shocked I went this long too but this one is a doozy. So y'all better be wearing waterproof mascara. I'll go over the yard first. Greg and I have been working on irrigation in all the flowerbeds, both front and back. Almost everything is on a timer now with the exception of my containers. I want to get the soaker hoses all dialed in before I add more. There's a limit on how far you can run soaker hose and I don't want to over burden it and then it not work. I still need to re-mulch a lot of areas because I have also been plant......
Hot and steamy would describe the weather here in Indiana on the porch. Hot like Florida, the southern state I used to call Home. So I am bringing southern flair to this yankee state, whether they like it or not. To match the southern heat they're giving me. I'm sticking to my tried and true theme of black and white with a few pops of color mixed in. Plus two fiddle leaf figs. The one on the porch I bought at a local nursery this winter and had it in the kitchen. The smaller one above I recently bought at Costco, so it is still adjusting to it's new blonde master. Hopefully it will like this hot and humid weather because it's owner doesn't. Living in Yankee territory was supposed to have the benefit of cooler temps. I guess until now. If I do any porch sitting this week or weekend, there will be a fan blowing on me I swear! This 94 degree crap with 2 mph breeze is for the lizards! The Fiddle Leaf Figs (or FLF) love the Terracotta pots, so if you are a heavy handed......
