Seeing my front porch decorated for Spring, really tells me that warmer weather is coming.
There are just some things I really like to wait for and that's to put the finishing touches of Spring decor on my favorite spot to spend a lazy day.
The only catch with this is
It's going to change really soon!
The wrought iron post will soon be history and replaced with cedar wood. The railing will be re-worked also to fit the new rustic / ranch look I am going for.
And happily when I say "history" i mean, I am buying the cedar lumber tomorrow.
If you happen to be a frequent reader of my blog and are wondering why I am excited about buying lumber?
Just equate it to a diamond bracelet.
When you get to be my age, it's DIY projects like this, that make a woman smile.
Now don't get me wrong, I will still take a nice piece of jewelry, but cedar will give me a sparkle in my eye too.
I have been treating myself a tiny bit each week, using sales and coupons at various stores like JoAnn Fabrics and bought some new galvanized artwork for the porch to compliment my love of metal.
I bought a "Garden" sign, an identical one that says "Welcome" and a smaller bird picture that is on the right side of the front door. The "Welcome" sign may work her way out here after the new post is finished.
Over the winter I also bought a new table made for outdoors. I grew tired of trying to come up with new ways to have a place to sit a beverage, when I lounge out here.
The large lantern (the one that every year a new piece of glass would break from high winds?) replaced my rusty chandelier and lookie lookie what fits perfect inside it!
A Boston Fern!
After the new cedar post goes in, I will paint the lantern to match the galvanizing theme going on and hang it back up.
But, for another week or so?
This will work. Hopefully we will be able to get this done this weekend, weather permitting.
Have a great one!
