Updating a dated chandelier Updating a dated 1980's brass chandelier  turned out more "fun" than I originally thought. And by fun I mean; I thought I was brilliant and would totally be able to paint this dated brass thing into a treasure that we would want to keep forever. Guests would walk into my dining room and gasp at my ability to faux paint a turd into a gorgeous masterpiece hanging above my dining table. Yeah, that didn't happen.  What did happen was a painting fail which resulted in a run to the spray paint aisle of the closest store. Just to remind everyone what it started out as: This was a thrift tore purchase about 6 years ago. I paid twenty five dollars for it. My sister called me crazy when she saw it in my cart.  Greg said the usual: "What the hell are you going to do with that!" I spray painted it black and hung it in the dining room and there it stayed. Until  about 2 years later when I got sick of the color and how massive it seemed. Greg ......

Going to be a lot going on for me today so this post....is high on pic's and low on chatter. I got a new score from my local Habitat for Humanity Store getting hung up today (a new chandelier), I'm on the hunt for outdoor pillows to add to my porch and I've got some more decorating/cleanup outdoors to do. Wish me luck! Before pictures of my chandy  I did some pre-investigating before I bought it, and the greenish tinted glass will come out to make painting easier! Below is one light coat of Krylon semi gloss black...and yes I painted it on the basement (with the use of a fan) because if I had to wait for Mother Nature to catch up to Phil's prediction of an early spring I'd go grey.....or nuts! I'll post pictures when we get it hung up! It's going in the back entry, it's heavy and over 26" in height! Doing some decorating to my front porch.... It's also time to update and move the house numbers to a new location.  That'll get done today too a......

Scored at my local thrift store! What do ya think??? Can you see the possibilities? I took a chance that it would work, but for just a few bucks ?I had to!  I know a lot of people may like brass chandeliers. But. I. Am. Not. One. Of. Them. It would have made a expensive candle holder if it didn't work, it'd be real pretty candle holder. But I was hoping it be a nice addition to my dining room, you know, using electricity. I think it turned out pretty good if I do say so myself. My sister and hubby thought I was crazy for buying it at a thrift store. It's difficult getting a pic of it at nite just minutes after hubby has wired and hung it.  But here she is! Insert your favorite concerto music here.
