During Winter time, especially after holiday decorations have been taken down, the lack of greenery and warmth seems to disappear. The need for cozy blankets, plush socks and a general feeling of warmth is an urgent need in my home. If you live in the southern half of the United states or a warmer balmy climate you may want to skip this post. It's heavy on the "I'm gearing up to battle cold snowy weather" blues. I am actually a southern freak of nature. I grew up in South Florida but love living in a northern climate. Most of the time. Truth be told, come March I am ready for warmer temperatures and open toed shoes. I feel that most people already know in their heart how to make their space feel more cozy and welcoming. It's adding touches that say come sit on me, or wrap up in me and stay inside. Your favorite blanket, some hysterical adult footie pajamas. Whatever makes your feet warm and your heart melt should just be done automatically. For me it's a fee......
Dining Room Decorated for Christmas Each room I decorated this year I am taking my time on. I still feel that tension to try and get it done as fast as I can but when I look back and see pictures of all the rustic detail I've added to the tree in the dining room? I'm glad I took my time! The Dining Room calls me at night especially. The tree lights and lights just draw me in there every night, just to gaze and stare. Scroll down in this post and there's a link to a YouTube video I created while I did the tablescape. I also took these shots with my new camera. Believe me I wanted to cheat and use my I phone because editing RAW images takes me a lot longer then the way I've been doing it for years, so it was hard for me not to cheat. The sign was purchased last year at Kirkland's. I loved it so much that I hung it back in the same spot, but you'll notice I moved my tree to a new corner. I used an owl on this tree as well. He's perched up as a topper wit......
There is something about picking just the right paint color for a room that makes any hobby interior decorator feel like a million bucks. I wonder if anyone else laughs when the first color they pick turns out to be a lot more blue then grey. Not that, that is what happened to me. I'm asking for a friend. Ok, I did it I admit it. My 1st pick failed and I ran back to find a different one. I don't know if there is one color that is the most difficult to get a true color in almost any light or situation, but I am betting grey is a close second. I don't like the bluish undertones of some shades of grey, they don't work well with my decor or color scheme. They come across to prissy. If that makes sense, which it sounds funny when you're talking about color. You can take a brief look back at the cream color that used to be on the walls. Don't let it fool you, the white balance in my camera or phone always washed it out to look better. In real life it's getting cl......
Decorating my Dining room for the holidays is usually one of my favorite things to do. Is there anything more festive then a gorgeous dining table for a tablescaper? That is usually what gets me inspired to decorate my dining room, the table. I always try to outdo what I did the past year. I did neutrals in our Living Room, Red and Black in our Master Bedroom, so it seemed realistic to finish this season off with my usual favorite color purple. I added white and silver too for some glitz. One day I may have enough ornaments to have the same color theme throughout my entire house but I doubt it. Mixing older ornaments with newer ones always makes the best tree. At least in my opinion is does. It is both classic and timeless. I have made up my mind that Fall I will order new ornaments online to help bulk up my white and purple ornaments. This year I saw pretty much the same style I saw last year, which surprises me. I may be hitting up Pottery Barn or Trendy Tree to see what the......
