Decorating a small space Decorating a small space with lots of texture, live plants and tons of gardening ideas for starting seeds indoors and making gardening plans. Because decorating it around a vacuum cleaner would be ridiculous. Wouldn't it? Especially if you treated yourself and your home to a robot vacuum and the best place to put it was your entryway. Smack dab center of your home. So, to counteract my lunacy of having a vacuum in my foyer, I decided to decorate this tiny space with what was on my mind; seed and flower catalogs. After the holiday decor was taken down, the catalogs started showing up, so I incorporated them into my decor for fun. This area was ripe for some color and texture to warm it up. This area is only about 60 square feet, so keeping things minimal helps makes the space feel bigger. The hutch is 8" deep, but gives me huge impact with it's rustic pine wood. Using the same hutch we built back in 2018 and a bench we've had just as long, I ......
Dining Room Decorated for Christmas Each room I decorated this year I am taking my time on. I still feel that tension to try and get it done as fast as I can but when I look back and see pictures of all the rustic detail I've added to the tree in the dining room? I'm glad I took my time! The Dining Room calls me at night especially. The tree lights and lights just draw me in there every night, just to gaze and stare. Scroll down in this post and there's a link to a YouTube video I created while I did the tablescape. I also took these shots with my new camera. Believe me I wanted to cheat and use my I phone because editing RAW images takes me a lot longer then the way I've been doing it for years, so it was hard for me not to cheat. The sign was purchased last year at Kirkland's. I loved it so much that I hung it back in the same spot, but you'll notice I moved my tree to a new corner. I used an owl on this tree as well. He's perched up as a topper wit......
DIY a project I had the garage door replaced late this Summer and after the install I saw a few things around the garage that the new door was making look really dated and how long it had been since the trim around the door got a coat of paint. So, out came the brush and ladder before the temperature got too cold to paint. I put three coats of primer/paint on the trim and while doing this project, I got to thinking how happy I was that we paid someone else to do this job. You know, instead of us having to use our day off to do it? It occurred to me what a benefit that is. It also got me wondering are there jobs homeowners should or should not do, when it comes to home improvement projects? If I had my way, a lot of the projects that are done around here would be done by professionals. Like cutting in when you're painting. I hate that job. Or sanding drywall after it's been mudded. I hate that one too! There are always pros and cons to why hire a pro. Greg and I talked about w......
Fall Decor 2019 It's Fall tour time! A classic black and white color scheme and mixing in my signature favorite color of purple is truly relaxing this time of year. It signifies that a hot season filled with weeds, sweating and having to shave my legs is coming to a close. I'm kidding about the shaving part of course but truthfully I will slow down on the razor police. Our nights here are at a cool mid sixties and I'm loving it! I went less is more for the porch. Mainly because I included a video for you as well and it gives a garden tour. I did manage a small Fall vignette out near a new Birch Tree as well for a pop of interest. I have two fiddle leaf figs that are doing very well. I hear so many people's frustration about growing these things. So far I think I am mastering it. I spotted some new growth on both of them so they love a North facing spot with only a couple hours of Sun and terracotta pots. If I were to name this scheme I would have named it the year of t......
