During Winter time, especially after holiday decorations have been taken down, the lack of greenery and warmth seems to disappear. The need for cozy blankets, plush socks and a general feeling of warmth is an urgent need in my home. If you live in the southern half of the United states or a warmer balmy climate you may want to skip this post. It's heavy on the "I'm gearing up to battle cold snowy weather" blues. I am actually a southern freak of nature. I grew up in South Florida but love living in a northern climate. Most of the time. Truth be told, come March I am ready for warmer temperatures and open toed shoes. I feel that most people already know in their heart how to make their space feel more cozy and welcoming. It's adding touches that say come sit on me, or wrap up in me and stay inside. Your favorite blanket, some hysterical adult footie pajamas. Whatever makes your feet warm and your heart melt should just be done automatically. For me it's a fee......
Farmhouse Tablescape for everyday   Let's have a nice farmhouse sit down dinner shall we? We can eat and enjoy a nice long leisurely meal at the table and make a nice memory. When is the last time you sat for hours and chatted it up with friends around the table? If it's been awhile, then let's do it right now. The broken clock in my dining room is there because time stands still in here. There is never any rush to just get through it. Dishes, chores and the outside world can wait. I kept this table casual because it's  about the memories. The catching up and laughter we'll share. The sarcasm and the shoulders when needed. When the sun shines in my dining room, it always makes me feel like everything is going to be ok. No matter what is troubling me, it is always so calming to see the rays of sunshine in this room. Organizing is still going on around my house. I do it in stages, so it does not overwhelm or clutter my house or my schedule. The best thing about not w......
I was browsing through the archives and came across this winter tablescape and thought it was worth republishing. I hope you enjoy taking a look back at it and also seeing how my dining room used to look like! Setting a Winter Tablescape using antlers, zebra print and leftover holiday greenery. Trying to warm things up visually around the house without spending a dime on store bought flowers. With temperatures outside hovering around 25, there's nothing like a little texture and greenery to make it seem warm and more cozy.  I am amazed at how long fresh greenery lasts in a vase now a days! I am getting to a point in our lives and budget that we can afford to buy fresh flowers for a nice splurge of color around the house. But when you see how long it really lasts, I don't feel like I am getting my monies worth. At least with certain types of flowers. Hydrangea stems to me are the worst. No matter what trick I try, they never last more then a couple hours. Unless I get th......
Farmhouse Tablescape A farmhouse table was in order today in the dining room to set my mood. Plus, honestly, I didn't think anyone would read an article called "Eat Your Beans. No? Ok I'll find something else to do with them." Cleaning out the clutter and things no longer used or needed, reminded me I had wanted to try a table using candles and dried beans for vase filler. I dumped about 3 bags of beans into some glass containers and really loved the look when the sun hit the table. I cannot say that my canon camera loved it however. It has been giving me lens issues every time I try and zoom. I have almost hit the "buy" button about ten times but just cannot seem to justify that kind of money to buy a better - next level camera yet. I did end up treating myself to a newer cell phone instead. I was doing some internet browsing on peoples favorite apps for it and came across some free photo software and the pics you see here are all from the I Phone XR an......
Setting the Table Hi Friends, Happy 2019! I think this year is going to be a fun filled, garden packed, entertaining filled year. I am like most of you, deep into purging (again) and clearing out the decks and my dish closets too. I am hoping to do more entertaining this year but with less clutter. If I haven't touched or used it in the past 4 months it is going bye bye. During the past holiday season I was literally dumping leftover decor not related to Christmas on the floor of my girl cave. So it is literally a disaster! But hopefully soon I will have it back to normal mode. I may slow down and take pictures to show ya'll actually how bad it got. Leave me a comment below if you think that'd be fun to read about. This table I did just to brighten up the Dining Room after the holiday decor left. It needed some greenery. I may hit up a store or two and buy some indoor plants to help get me through winter. I think my lemon cypress needs a buddy. Right now Greg is hauling......
